Last, I have tried the new metro style Stick Note of Windows 10 v1607, I can use CTRL-Shift- to increase or decrease font size, but I can not figure a way to change FONT. I also tried adding stickynot.exe in Task Scheduler to launch, it works at random, but most of time it does not launch. I have tried to add another stickynot.exe in Windows 10 v1607 StartUp group, no go. Now, it will let you click on X to delete sticky notes without confirmation prompt however this raises another big issue: stickynot.exe will not automatically restart when you reboot or when turning on your computer! eventhough RESTART Sticky note entry is in Windows startup, but it just would not start on its own, until you double click to launch it.

Anyway, below is a post I just put on MS Technet forum, if you think it is worthy of discussion, please do, and comment.Ĭopying the original sticknot.exe to c:\windows\system32 does work, and allow you to continue using the "old" sticky note, however has anyone notice when running "old" sticknot.exe in Windows 10 v1607, you can use + to add new sticky notes, but clicking on X will not let you delete sticky notes? The only work around I have found so far is to regedit, on right windows, to change "PROMPT_ON_DELETE" from 1 to 0 (close, & reboot).

This is all fine, but my concern/issue is, for those who upgrade their existing W10 to v1607 with active old sticky notes on their screen, although W10v1607 will make your old sticky notes program available, but when you click on X, it will not delete sticky notes, meanwhile clicking on + will let you add new sticky notes.

And, if your W10 v1607 is installed fresh, you only get the new "metro style" sticky note app. It seems if W10 v1607 is applied over previous build of W10, and if you used to use the old sticknot.exe, after v1607 update, Windows 10 will retain all your previous sticky notes (which the data is stored at AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes\StickyNotes.snt), but you also get the new "metro style" sticky note, which supposed to work with the new Windows Ink, and Cortana.
